Altnadue Quarry is a small roadside crag just to the SW of Castlewellan in Co. Down. The Quarry is leased by Sport NI as an open facility for climbers and instructing groups.

Sport NI is commissioning a contractor to carry out some remedial works at the site. This will tidy up the entrance, provide some off road parking and then clear some of the debris at the base of the quarry along with upgrading belays and a new boundary fence.

Unfortunately, Sport NI are therefore planning to close it for a number of weeks while the work is ongoing. At this stage it is planned to have a contractor on site by the end of February (week commencing 26th) and it will be closed for a period of at least 5 weeks.

This work will considerably improve access and safety at the site and result in an excellent facility in the South Down area for the development of climbing.
