National Trails Day - Sunday 3rd October 2010

National Trails Day is taking place on 3rd October this year and we hope that in all areas of Northern Ireland we can have a fantastic range of interesting and exciting things on a trail, be it on land or water. Its primary objective is to raise awareness of outdoor trails and it gives everyone a chance to enjoy some of our most beautiful countryside, forests, mountains and lakes.

To get involved, the next step is to organise an event or series of events for National Trails Day:

Read the guidelines (available to download from red link at bottom of this email)

Check out events held in 2009 for ideas (Complete list in guidleines document)

Explore possibilities of working with partner organisations eg. National Trust and Leave No Trace. Contact details are in the “Guidelines 2010” document

Put the details of your events on the website www.nationaltrailsday.co.uk as soon as possible

National Trails Day will be well promoted and marketed by CAAN. Support has already been pledged by explorer Hannah Shields, TV presenter Darryl Grimason and footballer David Healy.

If you have any questions or need any further support, please don’t hesitate to contact me.

Kind Regards
