9.30 a.m. -10.30 a.m. CAAN Network Meeting

These meetings are now be held twice a year and are open for all members of CAAN’s sub groups (Activity Tourism Forum, Outdoor Recreation Group, Outdoor Learning Group) and other interested groups (NIPAN, Volunteer Rangers, Physical Activity Co-ordinators, Outdoor Governing Bodies of Sport) to attend.

10.30 a.m. – 10.40 a.m. Tea and Coffee

10.40 a.m. – 12.15 p.m. Activity Tourism Forum (ATF)

The ATF provides an opportunity to meet with key CAAN and NITB Activity Tourism staff and also network with others within the industry. The ATF is held in an interactive format so you get your chance to voice your opinions on the best way forward for the industry.

12.15pm -1.15pm Update on Adventure Activity Licensing in Northern Ireland

Find out more about the Lord Young review of the Health and Safety Executive, the development of Adventuremark in GB and the potential impact of all this combined with the public sector cutbacks on an accreditation scheme for Northern Ireland.

2.00pm – 4.00pm Visual Awareness Training
Venture Outdoors - Creating Healthy Communities

The Royal National Institute of the Blind (RNIB) www.rnib.org.uk will be facilitating this seminar, specifically designed for those working in outdoor recreation, on the provision of activities for people with visual impairments.

This two hour presentation aims to provide practical advice and support on how to ensure blind and partially sighted people can gain the most from your services and how your company can ensure your information is accessible for this group.

There are limited spaces available for this session and they will be allocated on a first come first served basis. Please reserve your space ASAP to avoid disappointment.

Appendix 1

Procedure for Election of New Activity Tourism Working Group

The present Activity Tourism Working Group has been in position since October 2009. They have met on five occasions (Minutes are available on the OutdoorNI.com trade on-line forum). A new Working Group will be elected at the forthcoming Activity Tourism Forum on October 19th 2010 and be in post until October / November 2011.

Working Group Commitments

Working group members should be able to commit to the following:

-Attendance of three Working Group Meetings per annum
-Attendance of two Forum Meetings per annum

Working Group Objectives

-to agree the agenda for Activity Tourism Forum meetings
-to consider the issues identified from the forum and collaboratively agree the way forward
-to advise, recommend and input into specific, marketing-focused tasks or projects, on behalf of the Activity Tourism Forum members
-to lead on non-marketing tasks or projects on behalf of the Activity Tourism Forum members
-to seek funding opportunities where possible

Election Procedure

-The new Working Group will consist of ten members (excluding ex-officio members)
-All nominees should be verbally proposed and seconded at the Forum
-Persons proposing and seconding nominees may not come from the same organization as the nominee or each other
-All nominees should be a current member of the Activity Tourism Forum
-If more than 10 people are nominated, a private ballot will be carried out by the members present at the Forum
-The Working Group Chairman will be elected by the Working Group at their first meeting
