Introductory Work in the Outdoors Level 2 Qualification

A Workshop for Managers and Trainers

Share Holiday Village, Lisnaskea
Tuesday 8 March 2011, 10.00 – 4.00

SkillsActive is pleased to invite managers of Outdoor Activity organisations to participate in a professionally facilitated workshop that aims to enable Northern Ireland Outdoor Activity businesses to begin introducing the ‘Introductory Work in the Outdoors’ qualification to their employees.

The ‘Introductory Work in the Outdoors’ Level 2 Qualification
This fully accredited, work-based qualification is built around the current principles and practices of outdoor activity centres’ induction programmes. It is a unique, ground-breaking approach to addressing the challenges businesses face in dealing with new or seasonal staff who need to develop competencies and skills to enable them to reach their full potential very quickly after they reach the workplace. A further benefit of the induction training is that it will provide candidates with a qualification recognised across the UK.

A Workshop for Managers and Trainers
The aim of the one-day workshop for Outdoor Activity organisations managers is to introduce the main units of the new qualification and to provide advice on how to support candidates undertaking the award. The rationale for including the Outdoor Activity centre managers in the delivery of the qualification is because the award is designed to be delivered in the workplace with indirect support from training providers. For example, it could be the manager in the workplace who will help assess and guide candidates as they develop their skills and knowledge.
