National Trails Day is taking place on 2nd October this year and we hope that in all areas of Northern Ireland we can have a fantastic range of interesting and exciting things on a trail, be it on land or water. Its primary objective is to raise awareness of outdoor trails and it gives everyone a chance to enjoy some of our most beautiful countryside, forests, mountains and lakes.
Activity Providers can benefit by getting exposure in our PR campaign, on the National Trails Day website and gaining valuable new customers.
Thanks to all of you who organised events in 2010. Some highlights of last year included:
- 58 events were held, a huge improvement on the 10 events held in 2009 - Over 1500 people participated in events - Coverage of event on BBC Newsline on 3 October - Significant media coverage: £332,550 equivalent advertising value - Overwhelming positive response from event organisers
To get involved in 2011, the next step is to organise an event:
- Read the revised guidelines (attached). There are some small changes to 2010. - Put the details of your events on the website www.nationaltrailsday.co.uk as soon as possible. The deadline for events is Friday August 5th 2011 Thanks in advance for your ongoing support. If you have any questions or need any further support, please don’t hesitate to contact me.
Kind Regards Aideen
