DESCRIPTION

An invitation to meet the team responsible for overseas publicity in Dublin on 14th November.

Last year Tourism Ireland brought over 1,400 overseas journalists to Ireland who experienced and enjoyed itineraries designed, executed and hosted by our colleagues in Failte Ireland and NITB.

The output of these journalist visits together with our in-market press activities generated an equivalent advertising value of over €211 Million for the Island of Ireland in 2012.

Some of the world´s top media outlets such as The Sunday Times, The Daily Mail, Top Gear, The Huffington Post, Conde Nast Traveller, Der Spiegel, Le Figaro etc. wrote about the island of Ireland in 2012 and we need your help to make 2013 even better.

Every month Tourism Ireland distributes content to over 22,000 media around the globe and we are now inviting you to tell us your story so we can tell them through our dedicated media rooms, press alerts, regular ezines, tweets and media events. We are constantly looking for quirky, interesting stories for these platforms that will inspire journalists and bloggers to write or talk about the island of Ireland and in particular your product.

In addition Tourism Ireland sends news to our 1 million Facebook fans and Twitter followers on a daily basis. Our followers want to hear your stories!

´Have you got a Story to Tell? - Live´ will take place in Croke Park in Dublin on the 14th November. There will be a morning and afternoon session where you will get the opportunity to meet with all the team involved in generating overseas publicity for Ireland at workshop sessions. We will also have a discussion on how best to tell your story overseas.

There is no cost for attending only a promise that you have got a good story to tell. A story doesn´t have to be news of a major opening or a huge event to attract the interest of overseas media - it just needs to be interesting and different as per the following examples:
• Have you won an award or accolade recently?
• Do you have something truly unique, e.g. does your garden contain the oldest roses or oak tree in the country, was the largest trout this year caught on your estate.
• Are you near a major attraction, e.g. how accommodation providers have worked with the Greenway in County Mayo and introduced packages to attract visitors.
• Do you have you any celebrity, literary, musical or historical connections?
• Are you celebrating a 50/100/150 etc. year anniversary?
• Do you have your own recipe for bread or beer that you share with your guests when they visit?
• Has there been a film or TV programme shot in your area recently? Can you make a credible link to your product?

To register your interest in attending please send us your story via Have you got a Story to Tell? by clicking on the following link http://www.tourismirelandindustryopportunities.com/index.php?p=eventreg&opp=796

If you share a story with another member of the tourism industry you may want to consider telling it together and we would welcome groups of 2 or 3 working together. Places are limited and we will do our best to accommodate everyone who wants to attend.

However if we are oversubscribed we will allocate places by random selection among all those who have submitted a story by the closing date Friday 2nd November, ensuring we have regional and sectoral spread.

We promise that no stories will be lost and all suitable stories will be used overseas as part of both the overseas media programme next year and for itinerary planning and interviews for media visits.

We look forward to hearing your story!

Regards,
