Hi Folks,

As some of you may be aware I am the Northern Ireland Regional Representative for the National Coasteering Charter (NCC).

I'll be heading over to England for the NCC National meeting on the 23rd November.

The Agenda for this meeting and details of the technical advisor proposal to be discussed are attached. The minutes of the NI regional meeting in May can be downloaded from red link below.

Prior to the National Meeting we need to hold the Northern Ireland end of season Regional Meeting at the House of Sport on Wednesday 14th November. The meeting will run from 6.30pm – 8.00pm. We will be in Room C and you can come through the main entrance. The minutes of this meeting will be fed back at the National Meeting.

Could you please confirm your attendance by email before Monday 12th November. If you have any matters or items for discussion (even if you are unable to attend) please let me know or give me a call on 07513868476.

Please feel free to encourage other Coasteering providers and stakeholders such as landowners, tourism bodies, etc to come along to this meeting.

Thanks for your time and I shall look forward to seeing you all next week.

Draft Technical Advisor Proposal
September 2012
John-Paul Eatock. Chair, the National Coasteering Charter

Hi Reps,
Please use this as the basis of your discussion at your Regional meetings, and bring outcomes of discussions to the National Coasteering Charter on Friday 23rd Nov for final discussion.

The proposal is that the National Standard for a Coasteering Technical Advisor should have, as a minimum:
1. At least 10 years of experience leading Coasteering groups regularly

2. Some form of sea qualification – both theoretically that shows understanding of waves, weather, forecasting and tides, practically – so they know what it is like to be in the water e.g. Kayak level 3, 5 star leader, 5 star surf, SLSGB Surf award (beach is for flat water), plus any other that you suggest.

3. Has some basic climbing award, ML Summer or above e.g. SPA.

4. Be good at paperwork
