Tender for the Provision of Services to facilitate Outdoor Recreation NI in delivering the 2013 Giant’s Causeway Coast Sportive

Outdoor Recreation NI is now seeking applications from specialist event management companies to provide specific services to facilitate it in delivering 2013’s Giant's Causeway Coast Sportive.

The Giant’s Causeway Coast Sportive was created by Outdoor Recreation NI to attract cyclists to stay overnight in Northern Ireland, hence driving bednights and spend in the area. It also aimed to showcase some of Northern Ireland’s most stunning natural assets including the Giant’s Causeway, the Glens of Antrim and Torr Head.

The inaugural event took place on the 17th September 2011, with Ballycastle, Co Antrim being the location of the event HQ. Over 600 participants from all corners of Ireland, Scotland and England took part in the event. The 3 routes (Short - 57km; Medium - 126km; Long - 182km) each provided a challenge for every level of cyclist with the 2 longer routes offering a chance for participants to conquer the infamous Torr Head Road which includes various sections with gradients from 12 – 20%. The second year of the event was held on Saturday 15th September 2012 covering the same 3 routes as in 2011 with nearly 1100 participants taking part.
