Dear Activity Provider,

As agreed at the last Activity Tourism Working Group meeting in November 2013, the Northern Ireland Adventureland Weekend (NIA) 2014 has been scheduled for Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th April 2014.

Similar to last year, the Northern Ireland Tourist Board (NITB) will commit budget and resources to the event. Outdoor Recreation NI and NITB will combine their resources to promote the event but like last year it is reliant on support from private sector activity providers to ensure its success.

Last year, NIA was supported by 22 accredited private sector outdoor activity providers offering a total of 62 events with 182 activity sessions throughout the weekend; I hope that with your support this year we can make the event even bigger and better.

AIMS:
• To increase the awareness of the wide range of outdoor activities available in Northern Ireland to Northern Ireland consumers* who have a good propensity to take a day trip or ‘holiday at home’

OBJECTIVES:
• ‘Kick Start’ activity season
• Generate repeat bookings for activity providers
• Generate £400,000 PR value
• Increase targeted consumer data collection and digital footprint
• To encourage the development of unique, locally authentic, outdoor activity tourism experiences which have the potential to appeal to RoI and overseas visitors for the additional summer campaign as well as NI consumers.

HOW TO GET INVOLVED?

Please find details available to download from the red link at the bottom of this email outlining how to get involved including guidance notes and good practice examples. The deadline to upload events is Friday 7th February 2014.

Providers wishing to offer the same or a similar event from last year's campaign now have the facility to copy the event information across for this year's campaign in order to save time in uploading all this information again.

Please note in order to take part in 2014’s Northern Ireland Adventureland Weekend Campaign, outdoor activity providers are required to have the necessary external safety accreditation.

MARKETING

Marketing and promotion of the event will be lead by NITB & Outdoor Recreation NI.

Please do not promote the event to the public until Friday 7th March 2014. At this stage the event mini website and marketing campaign will be in place.

Both Sarah Nelson and I from Outdoor Recreation NI’s marketing team are available to advise you on the concept and description of your event and assist with any questions or queries regarding Northern Ireland Adventureland Weekend. Please find our contact details within the downloaded document.

Regards
Beverley
