We work with local people to secure space for nature in our countryside, towns, coastlines and seas. Through our twin visions of Living Landscapes and Living Seas we work to inspire people to champion nature; protect and restore habitats through practical action and research; stand up for nature by influencing government policy; and promote health and well-being through enjoyment of the natural environment. Last year, as part of our Living Seas project, we ran a very successful photography competition and launched an exhibition of the finalists at Titanic Belfast in July 2013. The competition was supported by a social media campaign and was covered extensively in the Belfast Telegraph, the Irish News and on BBC Radio Ulster. This year we are launching our ‘Nature Matters’ 2014 Photographic Competition in March, inviting as many people as possible to get out into our great outdoors and photograph nature this spring and summer. We plan to use the winning images of NI’s wildlife in a touring exhibition that will encourage the public to respect and value their local wildlife and support the work of Ulster Wildlife in the future. This year we are pleased to announce that we have secured the prestigious Belfast City Hall to host our 2014 ‘Nature Matters’ Photography Exhibition. The exhibition will take place from 30th August – 20th September. On the opening day - Saturday 30th August – there will be a reception with the winners and their families from 11.00 – 12 noon, together with the Mayor of Belfast and our sponsors. Our Chairperson, Dr Roy Ramsay, will announce the Overall Winner (voted by the public via a social media campaign in July/August). We are very happy to announce that we have secured a main sponsor for the ‘Nature Matters’ 2014 Photographic Exhibition at Belfast City Hall – 31st August – 21st September. With that good news, we are still looking for sponsors for the individual category prizes and would love to work with you.
