Hi all,

Please see information below on a proposed new visitor and activity centre facility in Portaferry.

If you feel your organisation (or associated clubs) would be interested in using the Centre could you please send Leonard (Portaferry Sailing and Social Club development officer) an ‘Expression of Interest Letter or Email’, without obligation, in order to gauge market interest in the project.

...............................................................................................................................

I would like to introduce you to our proposed new development at Portaferry which should be completed by March 2016. We intend to create a new ‘Visitor and Activity Centre’ by refurbishing our existing premises at 38 Shore Road and extending into the vacant property, next door, at No 40.

The new centre will be a recreational hub for both residents and visitors to Portaferry and Strangford Lough. It will act as a meeting place to organise and take part in recreation and a base for visitors to explore the surrounding area including Strangford Lough. The Centre will be multipurpose and facilitate individuals groups and organisations of all ages, gender and creed wanting to have a meeting place or take part in general outdoor and indoor activities. To the rear of the building is an extensive rear patio and garden which can be used for recreation and camping. The building in on the shore front giving excellent access to water based pursuits.

It can be a home for youth or adult events, Theatre/Drama and Dance rehearsals, Art, Literary and Music pursuits or can facilitate groups interested in more energetic outdoor activity. The Centre will have changing and locker facilities and will also contain an office, information and resource area for groups using the building and will assist visitors wishing to visit the surrounding area and help promote other recreational and tourist providers in the area.

In addition the building will be ideal for businesses and organisations that are looking for a conference or a training venue. It will have an exhibition area that can be used for displaying information from business, voluntary, environmental and educational groups or government organisations and can also be used as a work space for resourcing and research work. All users of the building can, upon request, have access (restrictions will apply) to the restaurant and bar facilities which can also be booked for family, business or personal use.

If you feel your organisation (or associated clubs) would be interested in using the Centre could you please send us an ‘Expression of Interest Letter or Email’, without obligation, in order that we may gauge market interest in our project?
A summary of the projects facilities and sample letter/email which you may wish to use to reply to our request can be found via the red link at the bottom of the email. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or require any further information.
