Jayne Woodrow Administrator This user joined in May 2014 and has made 19 posts. | Posted on 28 May 2015 at 09:46 As you will be aware from the media there have been a number of incidents involving canoes/kayaks on either Coastguard monitored open water (Lough Neagh and Erne) or tidal water over the past 2 years. Both the RNLI and HM Coastguard were becoming concerned that there was maybe a trend starting to appear on this particularly where it involved rafted canoes with large amounts of kit. The Canoe Association of Northern Ireland along with Tollymore National Outdoor Centre will be offering 2 free Open Canoe Rafting Workshops throughout 2015. Each workshop will be limited to 15 places. So if you use rafted open canoes on sheltered water and plan to go out in more open water. Then this workshop will give you new ideas to prepare you for going on these trips to the open water.
