Please see below information on a brand new Outdoor Adventure Course available for students at Belfast Met. The BTEC is aimed at those with an interest in physical education, sport coaching, youth work and leadership.

Edexcel BTEC Level 3 90-credit Diploma in Sport (Outdoor Adventure)

This exciting new course in Outdoor Adventure is a unique study pathway in Northern Ireland and will allow you combine theoretical study with practical activities in outdoor and adventurous activities. This engaging one year programme is equivalent to 1.5 A Levels and successful completion will allow you to progress onto the one year top up Extended Diploma in Sport (Outdoor Adventure) which is equivalent to 3 A Levels. This course would be suitable for those with a keen interest in pursuing a career in outdoor adventure. It would be suitable for those with an interest in physical education, sport coaching, youth work and leadership.

You will study a range of practical and theoretical units including:
Anatomy and Physiology
Fitness Testing and Training
Sports Coaching
Physical Education
Equipment and Facilities for Outdoor and Adventurous Activities
Leading Water based Activities and
Leading Land-based Activities

As part of the course of study you will have the opportunity to undertake a range of different practical activities including:
Hill walking
Mountain Biking
Climbing and Canoeing
with the potential to gain recognised instructing qualifications in some of these activities.
