Outdoor Recreation NI has been commissioned by Fermanagh and Omagh District Council to prepare and develop an ‘Access to the Countryside Audit for Fermanagh and Omagh District Council’

Further detail on the project is available at http://www.outdoorrecreationni.com/projects/fermanagh-omagh-countryside-audit/

As an overview our task is to:

- Assess the current access both in terms of official and non-official outdoor recreation i.e. identify where are people taking part in the various outdoor recreation activities
-Make recommendations for future outdoor recreation projects that will support local communities and in particular generate health and well-being benefits. Although tourism outputs are not the focus of this project, there will be instances where there is an overlap with tourism
- Identify main issues and barriers to outdoor recreation development
- Asses the value of countryside access to the Fermanagh and Omagh area
- Help inform the key projects under the Fermanagh and Omagh District Council corporate plan

Outdoor recreation enthusiasts; representatives from clubs, community groups, activity centres, and all other interested parties are invited to attend one of the public meetings to have their say on countryside access and recreation opportunities in the district.

They will take place at 7.00 pm on Wednesday 4 and Thursday 5 May in Omagh Leisure Complex and the Bawnacre Centre, Irvinestown, respectively.

For further information and to register to attend one of the public meetings please contact Chris Scott, Outdoor Recreation Northern Ireland on 028 9030 6940 or email chris@outdoorrecreationni.com.

For anyone unable to attend one of the meetings feedback and views can be submitted to Chris Scott, Outdoor Recreation Northern Ireland directly
